New Beginnings

“A bad boss can take a good staff and destroy it, causing the best employees to flee and the remainder to lose all motivation” –Brigette Hyacinth

Hi All…

I can’t believe I am actually writing a blog post! I have had the goal to start a blog for years now. But, I never acted on it because I was always either; “too busy”, “unaware of what I should do”, or “I did not feel like my blog would be needed” and so on…Those were all EXCUSES!

A few months ago I read/heard a post from social media influencer JessieWoo, where she stated something along the lines of; your content is different because you are different! This made me realize that yes, there may be thousands of blogs out there but there are not thousands of me out there. I would scroll through and see motivational posts pushing people to simply take charge and achieve those goals. But even then I still hesitated…

However, today marks my very FIRST Monday that I am unemployed ever since the very beginning of my college career. I decided that I will not remain home, unproductive, with no goals set for myself! The only thing that I could think of is to use this time to indulge in my hobbies that I kept putting off for years.

How did I end up unemployed you wonder? Well, that was my decision with the strong support of my friends and family! I loved what I did for work and I loved going to work every day. But that all took a turn with a change in management. After experiencing and witnessing employees being verbally attacked, a boss that would walk through the doors on a daily basis with anger and pure negativity, as well as creating a toxic and uncomfortable work environment I became more and more stressed and unhappy at work.

I began to be more focused and worried about what situation would take place at work, rather than being focused on my work. I would be anxious as I walked into the building every day not knowing what issue I would have to deal with that day. When I noticed that upper management would not take the situation seriously and kept creating excuses, I decided that it was best for my personal well-being to remove myself from such an environment.

Not only do I feel like I have been pushed out of a job that I loved and that I was strongly growing in, but I also have never felt as disposable as an employee from a boss before. On my last day, I was sternly told 3 hours prior to the end of my shift, “You can go!” After that very last interaction, I can honestly say that I absolutely do not regret my decision.

What I have learned from this experience is that the best you can do to be at peace with yourself is; to be honest, to accept that it is okay to remove yourself from an experience that you feel is not impacting you positively and lastly to not sacrifice your happiness!

I will now be taking the time to truly indulge in my hobbies and goals. Posting this first blog post is a start! I believe in signs and correct timing for your path and the fact that I am starting this experience on a Monday, of a new month I do not believe was a coincidence!

So happy October all! This month:

     1)       Practice self-care

     2)       Indulge in your hobbies

     3)       If you are unhappy in a situation it is okay to remove yourself from it

     4)       Write down a few goals you would like to achieve

And,

     5)       Push yourself to accomplish something you have been hesitating to do

Bisous Bisous, Eisha

I purchased this blazer as my go to interview blazer for the Fall! It is a trendy yet classic print to pick up rather than the usual black, grey or navy blazer.
